30 Jan Contact Lenses Offer More Correction Options than Ever
New tech, new designs, and better correction
Contacts may just be the quickest evolving segment of vision correction and one that we find absolutely exciting. From technology to correct high prescription with great comfort, slow myopic progression in children, work as night time vision retainers, and even multifocal vision correction for astigmatism. We’ve been busy exploring and learning the newest technologies out there to provide our patients with the best options available. Let’s delve into some of the newer products on the market that our patients are loving.
Multifocal Toric Lenses – The product availability has doubled over the last year with the introduction of Biofinity Toric Multifocals being released. Our arsenal now consists of these as well as Bausch and Lombs Ultra Toric for Presbyopia. Both of these lenses have been tested in clinics for vision and comfort with great results. If you are out of these standard parameters – do not fret, we can custom design soft toric multifocals or hybrid lenses depending on your visual needs.
High Rx / High Astigmatism – The evolving lineup of Synergeyes custom hybrid lenses has continued to impress us with their ability to provide soft lens comfort with gas permeable lens vision. The best part about the hard center is ROTATION IS NO LONGER AN ISSUE! Compared to a soft lens which must carefully balance in the eye to see well, these lenses are much more forgiving in the way they correct astigmatism and free you to live your life without worrying about your lenses.
Pediatric Myopia Control – We are ecstatic to bring the forefront of pediatric eye care into our practice. The razor edge of research currently lies in myopia control, or slowing down the progression of nearsightedness by as much as 50% using contact lenses and low dose atropine therapy. We monitor progression of both the prescription and axial length (the real culprit) on a fixed price 24mo program which includes all necessary tools and follow up.
Orthokaratology (Night Vision Retainers) – While this technology has existed for about 20 years we have seen the largest changes in fitting tech over the last 5 years. No longer do we rely on fitting sets to find the lens best suited for a patient. We are now able to custom design a lens for each patient using topographical data and even some AI. Prescription ranges have expanded and we have been able to cross this technology over into other aspects of correction such as astigmatism, multifocal, hypermetropia, and myopia control.
